Laurel Park Behavioral Health Center is a residential treatment program designed for adults with chronic, severe and persistent mental illnesses, emotional disturbances, and/or dysfunctional behaviors. Laurel Park is licensed by the Department of Public Health as a Skilled Nursing Facility and certified by the Department of Mental Health as a Special Treatment Program/Institution for Mental Diseases (Title 22). Within an unlocked, secure setting, Laurel Park serves adults in need of supervised psychiatric care.
Laurel Park Behavioral Health Center's Special Treatment Program is one of the very few residential programs in the United States sensitive to the treatment needs of deaf/hearing-impaired people. In addition to Laurel Park's American Sign Language counseling staff, they are culturally competent in deafness and most have pre-employment or personal histories with the Deaf Community. Laurel Park does not provide differential treatment between our hearing and non-hearing people and focuses on treatment, not on deafness/hearing impairment.
